Your assignment is to complete the library's online orientation and take a trip to the library. This assignment is due no later than 2:30pm Tuesday February, 19th. Remember there is NO CLASS tomorrow February 12th so you can visit the library. You need to provide me proof that you did BOTH the online orientation and have visited the actual library by bringing a book that you checked out. Please choose a book that has something you would at lease consider reading in front of class.

(information about the orientation from the library's website) PILOT is a self-paced interactive tutorial that teaches information literacy skills. It contains six modules. Each module is designed to take less than 60 minutes from registration through the final quiz. Actual time spent on each module will vary depending on students' familiarity with the topics. It's available 24/7 and is free for all students.
Proof of Completion: Each module in PILOT contains a self-grading quiz at the end. Your students can send their quiz results to your email. Please remind your students that they need to register at the beginning of PILOT to be able to email you their quiz results. Since students are allowed to take the quizzes multiple times, we recommend that students be required to pass the PILOT quizzes with a score of at least 85% or better.
If you would prefer a face to face orientation or an orientation specifically for ESL students then please schedule an orientation with the library immediately.
The Face-to-Face Workshops are offered throughout the semester, including evenings, and Saturdays. Students attend these on their own time. They must sign up in advance for these 50-minute sessions at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the library. The workshops are held in LR 220.
Session A: Brief tour; locate library books using LOIS; learn Inter-Library Loan.
Session B: Databases: Locate full-text magazine/journal/newspaper articles online in databases such as EBSCO.
ESL level A and B: The same as Sessions A and B above but recommended for ESL students.
Proof of Completion: Students will receive a "Proof of Completion" slip after successfully completing a face-to-face session and the accompanying quiz.
